About the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA Policies
These are the official policies governing admissions, enrollment, and academic progress for the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program, organized by topic below; if anything isn’t fully answered here, our admissions team is happy to help.
Admissions Policies
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to make final decisions on waitlisted applications prior to receiving additional information. Materials received after a final decision will not affect that decision.
The application fee is USD $250 for the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program. You will be prompted to pay the application fee after you submit your application. Your application will not be processed until we receive the application fee. The application is non-refundable and may not be applied to any future applications at Stern at NYUAD, NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Stern or other NYU programs.
If you are experiencing economic challenges and would like to request an application fee waiver, please submit the Application Fee Waiver Request Form. Requests should include a rationale for the application fee waiver and will be considered by the Admissions Committee on a case-by-case basis.
The Admissions Committee will review these requests within 5 business days. Please plan ahead and allow ample time prior to submitting your application, especially during high-volume times around the application deadlines.
Once an application fee is paid by an applicant, it is non-refundable. Please be sure to fill out the request form prior to paying your application fee if you wish to be considered for a waiver.
If you submit your application prior to the conferral of your bachelor’s degree or equivalent, we will accept and evaluate your application. This will not delay the evaluation of your application. If an offer of admission is made, it will be contingent upon graduating from your undergraduate program prior to the first day of class. An undergraduate degree is required to enroll in the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program.
As a Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA applicant, you may have only one active application for a graduate program at NYU Stern and NYU Abu Dhabi (entering Summer 2026, Fall 2026, Winter 2027, or Spring 2027). If you are not offered admission to the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program or withdraw your application, you may request to re-apply to the same program with a different start date or you may request to apply to a different program. Requests must be sent to mba.admissions@sternad.nyu.edu and your request must be approved before you begin your new application.

The Admissions Committee communicates with applicants primarily through email. It is the applicant’s responsibility to update Stern at NYUAD immediately with a new email address. Changes to your email should be made on the application status page. Failure to update your email may result in you missing key information, which could jeopardize your admission and/or place in the class.
Stern at NYUAD is not responsible for any technological issues (including email filters, etc.) that prevent applicants from receiving our communications.
Stern at NYUAD does not grant admission deferrals. If you are admitted and decide not to enroll, you may re-apply for a future term. In rare cases, Stern at NYUAD may admit applicants early to a subsequent term. Leaves of absence are not granted to students who find that they cannot begin the program in the semester for which they were admitted or who cannot successfully complete one course in that first semester (obtaining a grade of C+ or better). All other Academic Affairs and Advising Policies apply.
After admission, a non-refundable enrollment deposit is required to secure your place in the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program. Enrollment deposits will not be refunded for any reason. Enrollment deposits are applied towards your tuition as an MBA student in the program.
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to release a decision at any time during the application process. All admissions decisions are final.
Applicants who have an undergraduate degree from New York University (including NYU Shanghai and NYU Abu Dhabi) with a final cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher, will not be required to submit a standardized test score when applying to the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program.
Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration, interested applicants must:
- Have an undergraduate degree conferred by New York University.
- Have earned a final cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher at the time of degree conferral.
Application Details
Applicants should apply for the term in which they would like to be considered.
Applicants who are applying prior to the completion of their undergraduate degree must have earned the required GPA at the time of application to be eligible for the NYU + MBA. Applicants must maintain the required minimum GPA through the completion of their undergraduate degree.
The final cumulative GPA must meet the minimum requirement without rounding up.
To be considered for admission through the NYU + MBA program, navigate to the Program Preference page in your Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA application, and check off the box under statements of interest that indicates the following: I hold an undergraduate degree from New York University with a final cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher and am eligible to apply under the NYU + MBA application process. I have reviewed the eligibility requirements on the website.
If you check this box and meet the eligibility criteria, the Admissions Committee will waive the standardized test requirement for your application. If the Admissions Committee determines you do not meet the eligibility requirements to waive the standardized test requirement, your application will be considered incomplete until a test score is provided.
If you have standardized test scores, we encourage you to submit your test scores if it aids your candidacy.
Admitted students are required to provide an official record of all academic transcripts and proof of their degree conferral(s) prior to enrollment. Failure to provide official transcripts and proof of degree conferral(s) by the deadline given will result in your admission offer expiring.

The Admissions Committee gives every application serious consideration and evaluates each applicant across multiple dimensions. Should you wish to reapply, the list below indicates some of the ways in which we base our comprehensive evaluation. We encourage you to reevaluate all components of your application and to improve the areas that you can influence.

Stern at NYUAD reserves the right to take any and all reasonable steps to verify the accuracy of all information you have provided, including but not limited to validating the accuracy of submitted application information with appropriate sources. You attest that you will notify Stern at NYUAD immediately should there be any change to the information requested in this application. Stern at NYUAD reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including but not limited to revocation of admission, expulsion, or revocation of course credit, grades, and degree, should we learn that any of the information you have certified is false or that you have engaged in behavior showing a serious lack of judgment or integrity prior to or after admission. If your admission is revoked, you will not be eligible to re-apply to Stern at NYUAD programs. Any items submitted to Stern at NYUAD in conjunction with this application become the sole property of Stern at NYUAD and will not be returned, duplicated, or transferred.
All applicants to the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program are required to submit a standardized test with their application. To request a standardized test waiver, applicants will be asked to submit the request form and upload the required documents. The Admissions Committee will consider requests for a standardized test waiver on a case-by-case basis. Those who provide strong examples of academic readiness (e.g. strong analytical or quantitative undergraduate or graduate majors, professional work experience) may be more likely to receive a standardized test waiver. Abu Dhabi Modules: All admitted students must receive a UAE visa if required by your residency status. Stern at NYUAD will facilitate these processes for admitted students and request all appropriate documentation at the time of admission. If for any reason you cannot obtain the visa, your admissions offer may be rescinded.
*Please note: The post-arrival visa process will take 4-5 weeks. During this period, you cannot leave the UAE, if applicable.
New York City Modules: NYU sponsors non-US citizen or permanent resident students for F-1 student status, and F-1 status is the most common type of status used to study in the United States. F-1 status is for Stern at NYUAD academic students who are pursuing a degree or certificate and will only last for the duration of the in-class module or session. Please note that the visa will not be valid for the entire year.
The NYU Office of Global Services (OGS), in partnership with the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program managers, can help determine if students will need an F-1 visa for the summer modules in New York City and if so, will help them through the I-20 process for these modules.
Please note that, if applicable, students are responsible for the costs incurred for their visas throughout their tenure as students.
Program Policies
Successful completion of our orientation in its entirety is a prerequisite for enrollment into the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program. Therefore, attendance for the entire schedule of orientation is mandatory. Orientation dates for 2025 are to be determined.
Full-Time
The following are the requirements for full-time status and full-time equivalence during any of the fall semester, spring semester, or the summer.
Full-Time Status: Per university regulations, students must be enrolled in at least nine credits of coursework in any fall or spring semester, unless the degree program the student is registered to has a lower amount of credits approved as full-time. In the summer semester, a student must be enrolled in a total of nine credits over all that year’s summer semester terms.
Maximum Time Allowed in Full-Time Status and Equivalence:
The maximum amount of time allowed for a student complete the program is as follows:
Students must complete the degree within six years of initial enrollment in the program. This includes any leaves of absences that a student may need to take during the course of the program. Students who do not complete the program in this timeframe will be officially unable to continue in the program and any credits earned will no longer be eligible towards the degree. Should a student wish to study towards the degree again at any point after six years, they will be required to reapply for admission and any credits earned previously will need to be retaken.
There will be no opportunities for transfer credits or advanced standing in the Stern at NYUAD One-year Full-time MBA program.
